On Saturday August 13, Alex Hofer landed in Monaco to win the 2005
Red Bull X-Alps, the most gruelling flying race of all time.
Twelve days earler he'd
launched from Austria's Dachstein Glacier with sixteen other
competitors from Europe, the USA and Australia, beginning a race
that would see them cross 800 km of the Alps, by flight and foot.
See the competitors fly through awe-inspiring alpine scenery, and
witness their struggles on land... battling on foot through
snowstorms at midnight over Switzerland's Furkha Pass and dealing
with the dissapointment of blown chances...
The entire race was
filmed in HD quality by professional crews shooting from helicopters
and using advanced POV lipstick cameras. The DVD, a joint production
by Red Bull and Cross Country magazine, features a 40 minute film
plus extras including pilot interviews and video diaries.
The Red Bull X-Alps
