Hang Gliding News

The Alto replaces the Orbiter

So, Alto is the new intermediate wing!!

Now we made the M and L sizes, while the S will arrive quite soon.
We are working to get the DHV certification in the next few weeks.

Compared to the Orbiter 2, the Alto have several modifications both on the frame and on the sail.
The M size is the one that has the most important modifies on the frame. On this size, we changed the central Xbar plates and the Xbar-LE fittings with the same plates and fittings we use on the Piuma.
These components guarantee a better load distribution on the Xbar, that has been redefined as well.
On the L size the same central plates has been introduced (consequently also the xbar has been changed), while the Xbar-LE fittings were already adopted on the Orbiter 2.

About the sail, the V-shape of the Alto is the same of the Orbiter 2, as well as number of battens, but there are:
A new chord distribution
A more clean trailing edge

The central section has a smoother curve both in the upper and double surface.
Some benefits in terms of weight are achieved reducing the height of the LE panel
New wingtips
New colors pattern

Thomas told us "Ciao ragazzi, it was a challenging comp with Manfred in the task committee.
I guess you know what this means! He really pushed it, with not too many pilots reaching goal on many days, except for the last day for a happy ending.
The Laminar is flying great, it brings me to the next level and to team up with MR is awesome. Such a great guy and a pilot to learn from in many ways!"

"It was a real good last day, strong conditions in the mountains.
It was a very good way to celebrate my birthday with the last day and overall comp winning.
