NeroHero is one of Icaro’s latest helmets, a superb product with its innovative streamlined profile, carbon outer shell and EN 966 certification. In the Outlet, we are selling some NeroHero helmets in sizes 56 to 59, both in fibreglass and carbon fibre versions. You may be wondering, why is a prestige helmet like NeroHero on offer in the Outlet? Just read on to discover why.
NeroHero began its career as a helmet with a single outer shell for sizes from 53 to 61, in carbon fibre and fibreglass versions, both with EN 966 certification. In order to improve the fit of the largest sizes, we decided to introduce a larger outer shell for sizes 60 and 61. This operation was a success, and all sizes are now very comfortable. At that stage, we just had to submit the new versions with larger outer shell for certification. We were informed that for technical reasons, the fibreglass version of the larger shell could not be certified.
In the midst of these operations, we received the first feedback from our customers who had already purchased NeroHero. It was all positive, except for an observation by one pilot who had inadvertently dropped his helmet onto a hard surface right onto its aerodynamic pointed tail, which became chipped. While this did not compromise safety, we thought that it could be an idea to prevent this sort of accidental damage by inserting a special separate tailpiece unit in plastic, whose extra elasticity would enable it to absorb knocks and blows without damage. This meant returning yet again to the certifications laboratory, because for any modification to a helmet, the entire certification procedure has to be repeated.
After this lengthy development process, our regular NeroHero is now the prestigious product that you can find on our E-store, in full carbon, certified EN 966, with the new tailpiece, and in two outer shell sizes, one for sizes 53 to 59, and one for sizes 60 and 61. It has a visor in three available colours, with Icaro’s exclusive damped closing system for continuous adjustment. The Coolmax inner cap increases comfort by wicking perspiration from the head.
The helmets in the Outlet are NeroHeros from the previous production runs, without the plastic tailpiece, in sizes from 56 to 59. These comprise versions in carbon fibre and fibreglass, with EN 966 certification.
