After having been used for a year by the Rega rescue doctors, this remarkable helmet is now available to all professionals.

Important advise

We developed the Rega helmet on commission from the Swiss "Rega" rescue service.
It is not used by the helicopter pilots, but by the doctors who have to rescue injured people. The doctors are inside the helicopter or on the outside winch. So they never receive a horizontal air flow directly from the front, but only from above.
As the visor is very short, it is not suitable for pilots flying paramotors or open microlights. In such craft, the airflow reaching the pilot causes uncomfortable turbulence between the visor and the eyes. Therefore we recommend that this helmet should be used only by pilots flying in an enclosed cockpit.

We developed the helmet with technical support from Mr. Robert Grob, Switzerland. He was responsible for the application of the professional electronics systems used with the helmets by the Swiss Rescue service.

The size of a helmet is always described by the inner circumference of the internal padding.

The size number therefore corresponds to the head circumference in centimetres.

Interchangeable internal padding

This helmet has internal padding that can be replaced by larger or smaller padding pieces, thus varying the helmet size.

If the helmet is not a perfect fit, we send a new padding free of charge, independently from where you bought the helmet.

The important advantage: you can easily remove the padding and replace it with a new one or just wash it.

One size fits all     (option at order time)

We suggest this solution only for those pilots who fly with different passengers with different sizes.

You can change the size very quickly and also very easily the transpirant paddings.

Please note that the interchangeable internal padding is more confortable.

Ear cups and headsets

On this professional helmet we don't mount the electronic headsets.

Mr. Grob is in charge of all global sales to the professional business, including any electronic equipment.

The advantages of wearing a headset fixed to the helmet:

  • the ear cups can be flipped upwards or aside quickly and easily

  • on the ground you can thus hear normally

  • in the air you can ventilate your ears whenever you like

Certification E.N. 966

All our helmets have been tested and certified by CSI, a company authorized by the Italian Ministry of Transport and recognized by the German TUV.

This company issues certification for all helmets manufactured in Italy, including ours, which are designed especially for free flight, in accordance with European standards (EN 966).

Our helmets were designed and built specifically to be as light as possible. However they optimize safety for hang glider and paraglider pilots, as shown by the information above.

The weight of a helmet has a tolerance of +/- gr. 50 due to the glue applied and to the thickness of the fiber glass layers.

About ordering helmets online

The size of a helmet is always described by the inner circumference of the internal padding.
Nearly all our helmets have internal padding that can be replaced by different sizes of padding, to increase or decrease the overall helmet size.
Only the models Cut3, SkyRunner and Kusna have fixed padding sizes.

If the helmet that you buy has the interchangeable internal padding and is not a perfect fit, we will send new padding components free of charge, regardless of where you buy the helmet. Just send a mail to staff@icaro2000.com

F.A.Q.   Frequently asked questions

  • Is there any chance for you to send me the ordered item as a gift ? I think this way I won´t pay the local taxes.
     
    • It is not so safe to send the goods as a gift.
      For example the brasilian customs is really very severe in this matter.
      Some years ago we sent a helmet to Brazil as gift. The customs opened the parcel, they visited our web site, they found the helmet name and they asked the customer to pay the local taxes referring to the price there was on our web site.

  • Can you send the ordered item with a lower invoice?
     
    • Sorry, no
      In Italy we are obliged to issue the invoice with the real value.
      In any case it would be dangerous also for you in your country.
      If the customs checks on our website the real price of the ordered item you could incur a heavy fine.
